Position Overview
Emergent Campus is seeking an Executive Director to lead its Trinidad location and serve as a key leader in the continued development of the campus and its role within the Southern Colorado region.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations, business engagement, educational partnerships, tenant relationships, facility management, programming, and community collaboration of Emergent Campus Trinidad.
This position will ensure the facility is well-maintained and effectively utilized by managing tenant relationships and leases, engaging with local and state businesses to increase space utilization and business opportunities, and collaborating with coalition partners to further develop the project.The Executive Director will also play a significant role in developing advanced manufacturing pathways, strengthening connections between education and industry, implementing Emergent Campus programming, and promoting the campus regionally and statewide.
Key Responsibilities
Campus Leadership, Facility Maintenance & Space Management
Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Emergent Campus Trinidad location.
Oversee maintenance of the facility to ensure all areas are operational and meet appropriate safety standards.
Coordinate regular facility inspections.
Manage repairs, upgrades, maintenance activities, and other facility needs to preserve the quality and functionality of the campus.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize campus space usage.
Ensure campus spaces effectively meet the needs of tenants, partners, programming, and the broader community.
Identify opportunities to increase utilization of available campus space.
Lease Management & Tenant Relations
Manage lease agreements with campus tenants, ensuring that terms are met and agreements are beneficial to both parties.
Serve as the primary point of contact for tenant questions, concerns, and needs.
Facilitate effective communication between Emergent Campus and its tenants.
Resolve tenant issues promptly and professionally to maintain high tenant satisfaction.
Develop positive, productive relationships with current tenants.
Monitor relevant market trends and adjust leasing and space-utilization strategies to remain competitive and attractive to prospective renters.
Support recruitment and onboarding of new tenants and businesses to the campus.
Business Engagement & Development
Actively engage with local and state businesses to promote Emergent Campus as a prime location for enterprise, innovation, and economic development.
Identify opportunities to attract new businesses, tenants, partners, and economic activity to the Trinidad campus.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, state agencies, economic development organizations, industry representatives, and other key stakeholders.
Work to secure commitments and expand the campus's business network.
Represent Emergent Campus at relevant meetings, conferences, community gatherings, and events to increase visibility and attract new business opportunities.
Promote Emergent Campus and its opportunities through regional and statewide education, industry, and business channels.
Advanced Manufacturing & Workforce Pathway Development
Create and develop pathways supporting the advanced manufacturing sector.
Build connections between employers, educational institutions, students, workers, and regional partners to strengthen manufacturing career pathways.
Identify opportunities for credentialing, upskilling, workforce development, and career advancement that respond to industry needs.
Work with industry and education partners to ensure workforce pathways align with current and emerging market demands.
Support the development of a regional talent pipeline connecting education with quality employment opportunities.
Educational Partnerships & Pathway Development
Develop and strengthen partnerships with local educational institutions, including Trinidad School District, Trinidad State College, and other regional educational entities.
Collaborate with educational partners to support academic, workforce, and professional pathways.
Work with educational institutions to design and implement programs that facilitate credentialing, upskilling, and transfer of credits.
Help expand educational and career opportunities for community members.
Coordinate with educational partners to align campus offerings with current market demands and educational trends.
Ensure programs remain relevant and beneficial to students, workers, businesses, and the community.
Serve as a liaison between Emergent Campus and educational organizations.
Promote the integration of academic achievement with practical workplace applications.
Organize events and initiatives that encourage student engagement with campus tenants and regional employers.
Foster a pipeline connecting students and other learners with career and professional opportunities.
Programming & Community Engagement
Implement Emergent Campus programming at the Trinidad location.
Coordinate and support events, workshops, workforce initiatives, business programming, and other campus activities.
Identify programming opportunities responsive to regional workforce, business, education, and community needs.
Engage businesses, educational institutions, partners, students, and community members in campus programming.
Promote Emergent Campus Trinidad as a regional resource for workforce development, innovation, business growth, and collaboration.
Coalition & Regional Partner Collaboration
Work closely with a coalition of local and regional partners to align campus development with community and regional economic goals.
Participate in regular coalition and partner meetings.
Report on progress, discuss challenges, and adapt strategies as necessary.
Leverage partnerships to gain insights, identify opportunities, secure resources, and enhance the overall impact of the campus.
Maintain productive relationships with public, private, nonprofit, education, workforce, and economic development partners.
Serve as a visible representative and advocate for Emergent Campus throughout Trinidad and the broader Southern Colorado region.
Monthly Measurables & Accountability
The Executive Director will be responsible for demonstrating ongoing progress in key areas, including:
Creating and developing manufacturing pathways.
Implementing Emergent Campus programming.
Promoting Emergent Campus regionally and statewide through education, industry, and business channels.
Advancing tenant recruitment, retention, and campus space utilization.
Strengthening educational, business, workforce, and coalition partnerships.
Supporting business and economic development opportunities for the Trinidad campus and region.
Providing regular updates on activities, progress, challenges, opportunities, and next steps.
Developing and submitting monthly action points and progress updates as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative, community-oriented leader who is comfortable working across business development, workforce development, education, economic development, facility operations, and community partnerships.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience in organizational leadership, economic development, business development, workforce development, education, community development, operations, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships across business, government, education, nonprofit, and community sectors.
Experience managing projects, partnerships, programs, facilities, tenants, or organizational operations.
Strong understanding of business development and the ability to identify and cultivate new opportunities.
Interest in or experience with advanced manufacturing, workforce pathways, industry partnerships, or career-connected learning.
Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and project-management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while collaborating with a broader regional team.
Ability to represent Emergent Campus professionally with businesses, state agencies, educational institutions, partners, tenants, and community stakeholders.
Familiarity with Trinidad, Las Animas County, Southern Colorado, or rural economic and workforce development is strongly preferred.
Location & Travel
This position is based in Trinidad, Colorado. The Executive Director will be physically located within the Trinidad area and will work on-site at Emergent Campus Trinidad.
The position requires regular engagement throughout the community and region, and travel will be required as necessary for meetings, events, business development, partnership activities, and other Emergent Campus responsibilities.
Schedule & Compensation
The Executive Director will generally be available during the standard week/workday and will work approximately 40 hours per week.
The approved initial period of performance is September 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027, with total compensation of $47,812.50 for this period.

The role is ultimately responsible for helping ensure that Emergent Campus Trinidad is a well-utilized, highly connected regional asset that creates meaningful opportunities for businesses, students, workers, and the broader Southern Colorado community.
