Job Description
Purpose of Position: As part of the LCHS team of educators and support staff, identify and engage students who meet criteria for re-engagement services including students who are at risk for not completing school, or students who have left school before completion. Work with LCHS Administrators, the LCHS Counseling team, and the Building Leadership Team to support the development of an Early Warning System and Persist, Reengage and Recover practices and protocols to ensure students remain engaged in school through completion.
Length of Assignment: 189 days per year; Academic Calendar here; staff calendar will be published when completed through negotiations. Start date of August 1, 2025. This is a grant-funded position with anticipated funding through June 30, 2028.
Compensation: $48,000-$60,000 salary, based on education and experience. paid in equal monthly installments over 12 months. Excellent Benefits! PTO, Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance! Most weeks are four-day weeks! FLSA: Exempt
Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Utilize data to identify students who meet initial criteria for the LCHS student re-engagement program, based on established grant program criteria.
- Member of the Behavior Response Team and the Building Emergency Response Team.
- Works collaboratively with the counseling / admin departments to provide support for students and events.
- Provide strengths-based, supportive case management for up to 30 students who meet criteria for the LCHS re-engagement program at any given time, including engagement with families and other support systems as appropriate.
- Recommend adding or removing students from the case load based on student progress and data.
- Continually assess assets and barriers that impact students’ abilities to stay engaged or re-engage in school
- Create collaborative re-engagement plans that honor identified assets and barriers, involving the student, family/guardians, school staff and support systems as appropriate.
- Provide continuous monitoring of student progress, adapting their plan as needed to ensure continued engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to monitor student performance, and provide opportunities for early intervention to prevent failure prior to a failing grade and support credit recovery opportunities (i.e. assignment make-up opportunities, additional tutoring support, etc.)
- Support the refinement of LCHS’s Early Warning System and Persist, Recover, Reengage dropout prevention strategies.
- Collect and maintain evidence of student progress toward identified goals for example, evidence of student work, data tracking documents, and student self-reflections).
- Develop knowledge of and build relationships with community resources that may support students’ identified needs; referring students to these services as appropriate.
- Participate in data collection and evaluation activities to measure the impact of the LCHS Student Re-engagement program.
- Utilize evidence-based and best practices in dropout prevention for the delivery of prevention and intervention strategies.
- Maintain records of contacts and actions taken with each student.
- Promote a positive professional and ethical image of the school district.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
- 3+ years (preferred) professional experience working with youth/adolescents with demonstrated need for specialized academic, behavioral or social emotional support.
- Direct experience or partnership with public educational systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Must pass the required background check and be authorized to work in the US.
- Familiarity with Leadville and the community, preferred.
Logistics:
- Schedule includes 10 additional days beyond the teacher calendar, exact work days will be agreed upon in advance with the principal and a copy of the calendar provided to HR. Calendar days may change with mutual agreement and documentation.
- A work space will be provided; it may be shared, if needed.
- Evaluated annually by the supervisor based upon essential job functions.
