Job: Structural Engineer (E3-SPM)

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying LLC

Structural Engineer (E3-SPM)

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying LLC

Job Description

Job Type: Full time, Salaried

Wage: $90,000.00-$130,000.00/yr.

Location: Colorado Springs, CO.

JOB DESCRIPTION

3 Rocks Engineering & Surveying is seeking an experienced structural engineer to grow our presence in Colorado Springs. Depending on your experience level, this may mean building and leading a new team as a peer alongside our established team in Cañon City, or working under the guidance of our current team lead early on, with room to grow into leading your own team over time. It's ideal for a proactive engineer who is as comfortable running a project and communicating with clients as they are behind the keyboard, and who brings hands-on Revit expertise developed at another firm to help set the standard for how we deliver projects.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Team Building: At senior levels, build and lead 3 Rocks' Colorado Springs structural team as a peer to our Cañon City team; at the Project Engineer level, work closely with our current team lead while growing toward leading your own team over time.

  • Project Ownership & Communication: Take the lead on structural projects from proposal through construction administration, keeping clients, contractors, and your internal team clearly informed and on schedule.

  • Structural Design & Inspection: Complete or oversee quality structural designs for commercial and/or institutional (school) buildings, and conduct thorough field inspections.

  • Revit Leadership: Model and detail projects in Revit, and bring the standards, templates, and habits from your prior experience to raise the whole team's Revit proficiency.

  • Business Development: Help build and maintain relationships that grow our structural engineering work in the Colorado Springs market.

GOTTA HAVE IT

  • Certification: Professional Engineering (PE) license in Colorado (or the ability to obtain a Colorado license by comity within one month).

  • Experience: 6+ years of structural engineering experience, including the design of commercial and/or school/institutional structures. This role can be structured as a Project Engineer (E3), Senior Engineer (E4), Project Manager (PM — our preference), or Senior Project Manager (SPM), depending on your experience and career stage.

  • Revit Proficiency: Hands-on Revit experience built at another firm — this is a must-have, since it's the one gap our current team can't fill internally, and you'll be looked to as our Revit resource from day one.

  • Hands-On Leadership: Even at senior levels, you should still be comfortable personally engineering projects and working directly in the software — this is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely high-level oversight position.

  • Communication & Leadership: A track record of running projects, communicating clearly with clients and teammates, and building a team from the ground up.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb ladders, conduct hands-on structural inspections, and lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Codes & Standards: Strong working knowledge of applicable local building codes and structural engineering standards.

BONUS POINTS

  • Colorado Springs Market: Existing relationships or project experience in the Colorado Springs area.

  • School/Institutional Design: Experience designing K-12 or higher-education facilities in Colorado.

  • Bridge Engineering: CDOT bridge design and inspection experience.

  • Team Building: Experience managing, building, or scaling an engineering team — especially valuable since this role starts a new office team.

  • Regional Expertise: Extensive history of structural design across a variety of foundation types in Colorado.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $90,000 – $130,000+ annual salary, based on experience and level. Depending on your background, this role may be structured as a Project Engineer (E3), Senior Engineer (E4), Project Manager (PM), or Senior Project Manager (SPM) — we'll find the right level and compensation together.

  • Profit Sharing: Participation in Company Profit Sharing.

  • Pre-Tax Benefits: Section 125 cafeteria plan.

  • Insurance: Employer-sponsored Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, plus Company-paid Life Insurance.

  • Retirement: Retirement plan with Company Match.

  • Time Off: Vacation and Sick time (accruing immediately), Parental Paid Leave, and Company-paid Volunteer Time.

  • Perks: Access to the "company garage" of outdoor gear—including our company raft, climbing gear, and mountain bikes!

LOCATION

Colorado Springs is our first choice for this role, though it can be based out of any of our office locations (Cañon City, Colorado Springs, Buena Vista) or Pueblo.
