Job Description:
Salida Montessori Charter School seeks a Secondary (12-14 year olds) Lead Guide for the 2026-27 School Year.
The Secondary (12-14 year olds) guide works collaboratively to create an environment conducive to the maturation of adolescents in the realization of their fullest potential. They are responsible for the administrative aspects of the program, for the generation of the Secondary curricula as well as the day-to-day teaching of the class. The Secondary guide must enjoy working with adolescents, have a deep understanding and respect for the child at this stage of development, and have the ability to challenge the adolescent. The guide provides a Montessori learning environment and an integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum. The Secondary guide should be comfortable with a broad range of academic areas, have positive energy, a good sense of humor, and be an effective communicator.
School Description:
Salida Montessori Charter School is a K-8 charter school offering a Montessori education in a public, charter school environment. Currently, we serve 128 students in 8 classrooms. We are the only public Montessori school in Chaffee County, and the surrounding areas. Our school embraces the Montessori philosophy of respect for self, others, and the environment. We hope to attract faculty and staff who share these values and model them for our students and our community. We also strongly value work / life balance and strive to maintain healthy boundaries.
Qualifications
Candidate Educational Requirements
B.A., Required
MACTE-Accredited Montessori credential, preferred.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualities
Comfort with History, Science, and/ or Language Arts preferred
Significant lead teaching experience in an authentic Montessori environment, preferred
Commitment to open, honest communication in the spirit of continuous improvement
Love of Adolescents
Desire to live in a small mountain town
True desire for collaboration with peers
