Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to support students’ physical, social, and health development through structured instruction and supervision in physical education and health classes. The instructional PE paraprofessional helps create a safe, active, and well-organized learning environment where students build skills, understand healthy habits, and engage positively with peers. This role works closely with licensed staff and administrators to support instruction, maintain consistent routines, and contribute to a strong school culture that promotes student growth and well-being. |
Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to: |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and deliver structured PE and health instruction for 6th grade PE/Health and 7/8 grade Health under the supervision of licensed staff and administration
- Lead activities, demonstrations, and small group instruction that promote physical skills, teamwork, and healthy decision-making.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive environment during PE, health classes, locker room transitions, and movement activities.
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior to ensure a calm, safe, and productive learning environment where students are active in their learning, engaged in grade-level tasks that connect to clear learning targets and require reasoning and application, and follow routines that support academic growth.
- Reinforce schoolwide expectations, classroom routines, and behavior supports to ensure a calm and productive learning environment
- Monitor student participation, engagement, and safety during physical activities and report concerns to supervising staff
- Assist in preparing equipment, instructional materials, and learning spaces to support effective instruction
- Support basic progress monitoring, attendance, and documentation as directed by supervising staff
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families as needed to support student success.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure consistent expectations and student support
- Supervise students in assigned settings, including transitions, common areas, and activities connected to the PE program
- Participate in relevant trainings, meetings, and professional learning connected to student safety, instruction, and school procedures
- Follow district and school policies/procedures
- Supervise students during assigned duties and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications |
- Applicants must hold a high school diploma or a GED
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Successful experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
- Possess an active Substitute Teaching credential issued by CDE
- A strong commitment to serving the unique strengths, needs, and aspirations of Lake County students.
- Applicants must pass all required background checks and fingerprinting
