Position Summary

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and property facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. This role leads housekeeping staff, inspects completed work, manages supplies, coordinates laundry operations, and helps maintain a positive and efficient team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, restrooms, laundry, and staff areas
• Assign daily tasks and room boards to housekeeping staff
• Inspect rooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met
• Train, coach, and support housekeeping team members on procedures, safety, and service expectations
• Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to management
• Assist with scheduling and shift coverage as needed
• Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and compliance with safety procedures
• Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies, linens, and guest amenities
• Coordinate delivery of laundry to off-site laundry service and return pickup to ensure proper linen availability
• Monitor linen levels and maintain organization of laundry storage areas
• Report maintenance issues, damages, and safety concerns promptly
• Coordinate with Front Desk and Maintenance teams to ensure room readiness and guest satisfaction
• Assist with deep cleaning projects and seasonal cleaning needs
• Help manage lost and found procedures
• Support hiring and onboarding of new housekeeping staff when needed
• Step in to assist with cleaning duties during busy periods or staffing shortages

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping experience required; supervisory experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lead and motivate a team
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for laundry service coordination
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
• Reliable, professional, and guest-service oriented
