Wage:  $19/hr.

Location: Leadville, CO.

Job Description

Length of Assignment: 179 days for 2023-2024 School Year. 162 student contact days. follows LCSD Calendar. The majority of work days are on a 4 day work week beginning in August and ending in June. Additional days include professional development and work days

Salary: $19.00/hour for 179 day contract = $27, 208 annually plus EXCELLENT benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance and Paid Time Off (12 days)

Primary Purpose:

The Behavioral Paraprofessional will work closely with and report to the Principal and Assistant Principal and collaborate with all school staff to promote a culture of high expectations for students, teachers, and families. The primary purpose of the Behavioral Paraprofessional is to be proactive and reactive to Tier 1 behaviors. They will champion the Positive Behavioral Intervention System (PBIS) of LCIS and support Crew.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use Habits of Work and Learning to promote and communicate clear school-wide expectations for character development and positive behavior.
  • Actively participate in Crew daily to build relationships with students and staff.
  • Support with Crew coverage as needed.
  • Check in/check out support for students as needed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on PBIS and building and maintaining a positive school culture.
  • Contribute toward a safe environment by ensuring that student conduct is maintained and discipline is enforced fairly, consistently, and equitably.
  • Effectively guide students and staff through Restorative Justice dialogues.
  • Engage positively with students, teachers and families through logical consequences, interventions,
  • Collaborative Problem Solving, restorative approaches and use of LCIS Discipline Matrix. Document behaviors, interventions, and consequences using SchoolRunner and communicate effectively with staff and families.
  • Partner with mental health providers to ensure students receive necessary social/emotional support.
  • Address Tier 1 and Tier safety concerns by investigating, documenting findings, and communicating with parties involved.
  • Work with the principal, assistant principal, and counselor to develop, implement, and evaluate effectiveness of behavior and safety plans.
  • Collaborate with the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) team as needed, providing data and student information to support team decision making.
  • Meet regularly with the student support team to discuss student updates, needs, and action steps.
  • Serve as a member of the Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) and ensure implementation of the Standard Response Protocol.

Additional duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Detention organization, supervision and documentation
  • Responsive to radio calls
  • Push in classroom support
  • Pull out student support
  • Recess and lunch duty/supervision as needed
  • Class coverage as needed
  • Morning greeter
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful experience in a K-12 school setting
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Skill in using data to make decisions to improve culture and academic achievement
  • Experience with research based behavioral practices (PBIS, Restorative Justice, Collaborative Problem Solving)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Experience with a diverse population of students
