Job Description:
Assist with the supervision of the maintenance and construction of County wide roads, bridges, and drainage systems. Monitors road conditions; assigns personnel, equipment and materials, and establishes priorities for repairs. Respond to call-out/on-call situations as they arise and during inclement weather. Collaborates with the Fleet Supervisor to purchase and maintain an inventory of fuel, tires, parts, tools, culverts and other equipment needed to maintain roads and equipment. Collaborates with the Area Supervisor, Director and other Supervisors to develop and implement standards, communicate County policies and procedures, develop and initiate safety training, monitor testing and certification requirements, and develop and implement Countywide DOT operating procedures. Works with the Area Supervisor, Director and the County Engineer to interpret and implement engineering requirements into the maintenance and construction of roadways, bridges, easements, rights-of-way, and drainage systems.
High School diploma or GED plus two years of advanced engineering technology or infrastructure construction training and four (4) years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with a Tanker endorsement required.
Can operate any eight (8) of the following pieces of equipment proficiently: mower, grader, loader, large backhoe, track-hoe, low-boy trailer, large steel roller, scraper, dozer, and screen plant with extreme proficiency. At this level the incumbent may serve as a lead worker, see additional information under Direction Received section. Ability to apply mathematical reasoning to prepare budgets and bid specification, calculate amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
